For today’s talk from our 6-week-long Summer Series: 25 minute daily talks all throughout June, we had a session with Rashmi van de Loenhorst, Head of Employee Communications at Philips.

All in Together: How Philips came together in unprecedented times

When COVID-19 hit, Philips leadership recognized the business would have a critical role to play in tackling the oncoming health crisis. They needed all 82,000 employees working towards the same, clearly defined goals.

In response, Philips launched its ‘All in Together’ initiative: an agile employee communications programme encapsulating the Philips triple duty of care principle to protect employees, fulfil critical customer needs, and ensure business continuity. Through communications, the initiative promoted unity, urgency and understanding, while empowering individuals to contribute – both individually and as part of an 80,000-strong global team.

Rashmi van de Loenhorst, Head of Employee Communications, who led the initiative, spoke about how Philips’ people-first approach to internal communications enabled them to deliver on their core aim of improving lives.
