Today marked day 4 of our month-long Summer Series: 25 minute daily talks all throughout July. This session features David Beeney, Founder, Breaking the Silence. His talk covered Driving Employee energy in challenging times.

David has dedicated himself to creating kinder cultures in the workplace and creating environments where people can be honest and open up about their mental health. This has never been more important than during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Employers who put the wellbeing of their employees first during a crisis will not only survive, but will come out of the other side much much stronger. Why? Because honest, open and authentic leadership INSPIRES people and mental health affects EVERYONE.

Don’t believe me? Have you experienced any of these?

  • Dips in concentration
  • Disturbed sleep
  • Low energy

Everything on this list is poor mental health. We all have mental and physical health and we all experience dips in both.

We need to allow our people to open up. During David’s talk, he explained what we need to do to build resilience in ourselves, our peers and our organisations. His advice included:

  • Ask how your people are doing BEFORE talking about work
  • Communicate more not less
  • Leaders need to be honest about their own struggles with mental health
