Creating an Inspiring Workplace with Neuroscience

SCARF is a framework created by neuroscientists that enables leaders at all levels in an organisation to understand the innate needs we all have (our brain has) to feel valued and productive at work.

This is the first of two sessions designed to help people at all stages of leadership to learn how to adapt their communications style so that every interaction achieves a successful outcome.

This is the second of two sessions designed to help people at all stages of leadership to learn how to adapt their communications style so that every interaction achieves a successful outcome.

This course is suitable for people who lead teams, departments or organisations and who want to create an inspiring workplace by being an inspiring leader.

What attendees will learn

Delegates will learn how to enhance team and organisation performance by using the principles of SCARF.

Delegates will learn the following – all essential to becoming an inspiring workplace

  • How to create a ‘friend’ response rather than a ‘threat’ response
  • How to ensure people feel that they and their team is valued
  • How to ensure that people know what will happen next, so their performance isn’t impaired through anxiety
  • How to enable people to be proactive and to focus on important tasks
  • How to ensure people feel connected to colleagues and the organisation
  • How to ensure that people feel fairly treated
  • How to identify internal processes or behaviour that may need improving – and how to improve it

Delegates will learn how their natural behavioural preferences control how they communicate and what impact this has on others.

Delegates will learn the following – all essential to becoming an inspiring leader:

  • What lies behind their natural behavioural preferences and how this shapes their communications style
  • How their natural communications style impacts on others and the reactions it creates
  • What this means in terms of effective communication
  • Some tips for simple adaptations that will help make their communication more successful
  • We look at the importance of using the right language to encourage honest and open conversation about wellbeing and performance

  • How to use active listening to achieve more successful interactions
  • The importance of creating a ‘friend/reward’ response in others
  • How to trigger a ‘friend/reward’ response by the first thing you say or write
  • Simple adaptations in communication that can become part of natural behaviour
  • The confidence to put these new skills into practice
